Best Place to Find Value of Cards

Main Post:

I recently got some WOW TCG cards but I don't collect them. Was wondering where i could look them up for value's sake. I tried looking a little bit on ebay, and the only one i could find that i had that seemed worth anything was Kiting.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Top Comment: You could try checking prices at CCGCastle.com - keep in mind their prices are inflated about 2x to 3x what you would be able to get for them youself on Ebay. There isn't a ton of interest in the game these days since it was discontinued in 2013 and tournament support has ended. The tournaments are what drove most of the value in the singles market over the years. Now if you have any scratch-off loot cards, however, those are still worth quite a bit on ebay because of their value in the WoW MMO.

Cheapest place in Italy to visit for value during late March-early April?

Main Post:

I'm looking to surprise my mom with a plane ticket to Italy this spring sometime during the last/first two weeks of March and April. Money is tight for both of us so this would be a splurge trip as is, but I'll be studying abroad in Spain, so I figured if there's ever a time, it's now (she's never been outside the US except for some Caribbean islands, and has always dreamed of traveling to Italy). Can anyone recommend a relatively low cost city or pair of cities to visit that would be nice during that time of year? I think she'll be happy to go anywhere, but I'm not entirely sure of her travel preferences. My mom LOVES the ocean, although I'm not sure how the weather will be around that time, but I'm sure she'd enjoy ocean views regardless. I'd imagine she'd be less into museums and more just being immersed in the cities, going to restaurants, cafes, etc. She does love wine as well!

While I'd like to hit multiple cities as I know the country has a lot to offer, we'll realistically only be able to do 1-2 for around 5-6 days. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Like I said I'm sure anywhere will be lovely, but I'm curious to hear personal favorites. Thanks!

Top Comment: Yes. I went to Italy in October 2015. Flew to Milan and then made our way to Genoa, Rome, Tuscany, sorrento (gotta try lemon cello from the source!) Pompeii, went up Vesuvius and then private drivers amalfi. Our driver picked us up at the train in naples- I asked if we could stop at the “home of pizza”. He obliged. I wasn’t two steps out of the car when I felt something hit my ear Some dude was trying to CUT my purse strap to steal my purse. I ALWAYS travel with a slash proof purse just for this reason. I turned around and grabbed him by the hair and pulled his face into my knee. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I learned what the inside of a Jail cell looks like. Apparently I was only to do the same amount of damage he did to me. TLDR: Naples. Attempting robbery. Jail

best place to get a quality/good value bespoke suit?

Main Post:

i suppose in KL, but i will be in the country for a year and wouldn't be averse to a pilgrimage somewhere else. also just general advice on the process, what to look out for and etc.

Top Comment:

There are places in KL that are reasonably good, Theres a few good ones near sogo/ or in sogo, hmm - this chinese chap is pro & knows his material well, but does a decent markup from 30%. Around US1100 for a decent one.

but I would suggest going to Bangkok for this. Take 3-4 days trip to BKK.

There are good ones in Sukhumvit area & my favourite an indian tailor opposite marriot, linked via the BTS walkway, just ask around.

A good suite (2 pants) would be around US700, ready in 3 days with alteration.

Good luck.

Which FE games place the most value in Chest Keys, Door Keys, & Lockpicks?

Main Post:

Opening doors and chests is a regular part of Fire Emblem, but different games place different value in the actual keys themselves.

I was recently thinking about how keys in the Tellius games aren’t very useful since Thieves can simply open doors & chests for free (Volke’s 50G fee notwithstanding). Door Keys are pretty useless since doors are breakable, and selling a Chest Key doesn’t even net you enough money to buy an Iron Sword in either game. To my surprise, though, I recently found out that there is one non-droppable Chest Key in the entirety of Path of Radiance. It’s in the Chapter 10 prison chapter, so Volke has to steal it for you to acquire it.

At first, I thought it would be valuable later for the Chapter 13 boat map, but considering Chapter 10 also has 2 droppable keys (for 4 uses) if you go the non-stealth route, Chapter 13 will be no problem if you give 3 uses to Titania for the upper ship while Volke & Sothe take their time getting the chests in the lower ship. Even if you didn’t get the keys in Chapter 10, you’ll have at least 1 Chest Key use remaining from Chapter 7 (assuming you didn’t discard it), so Titania can get the Occult Scroll (which is the closest chest to the Ravens’ spawn point) while Volke & Sothe get the Energy Drop & Speedwing later.

In the GBA games as well as FE1, Thieves open doors & chests through various keys including Lockpicks or Master Keys, so gameplay-wise, there’s always a tangible cost involved (even if it’s not necessarily a huge deal in the grand scheme of things). In fact, if you steal a Lockpick from Cath in FE6 during the chapters before you recruit her, you can sell those 30-use lockpicks for decent money (1,200G each). The only exceptions in these games that can open chests for free are the Rogue class from FE8 (who have the Pick skill) and Marth with the Fire Emblem in FE1.

Three Houses is a weird case where thief utility in general isn’t very valuable. Outside of Chapter 7 where you can steal rings from the house leaders or the various Master Seals you can steal from former students, there aren’t many notable non-droppable items that can be stolen in 3H. Most people just buy Master Seals anyways. I’ve stolen a Magic Staff in Chapter 6 that came in clutch during the boss fight, but that’s the only extra item I know of. Plus, Ashe gets memed on for having Lockpick due to Chest Keys being cheap and buyable at any time.

What do you all think about keys and their value in FE (especially in relation to thief utility)? Which games put an emphasis on keys, and which ones do not?

Top Comment:

FE5. There's no other game where keys are as valuable. So many maps just have a ton of doors to open, some of which are integral to beating the map like 11 or endgame. There's a reason the first piece of advice anyone ever gives about Thracia is "buy door keys."
